...Throughout my tapestry, I believe that I have demonstrated both sides of my theme in effective ways, and have also shown how important honesty can be. My flash fiction included both sides of my tapestry, where one character was honest and received a reward, and one character was not and received nothing but punishment and consequence. The main idea of my flash fiction was to prove that in the end, honesty pays. Everybody has the ability to be honest with themselves and one another, yet some people choose the less effective path of being dishonest.
While exploring some different stories that involve honesty, I have discovered that it is absolutely the best policy. With honesty, comes a personal reward of pride, and earning other people's trust, and can also come with physical rewards depending on the situation. For example, in the short fiction story that I used "The Parable", the young girl was rewarded for her honesty. She was not aiming for that or expecting it, she was simply doing the right thing and telling the truth. This story also relates to the video "Mercury and the Woodman", because the woodman was also rewarded for his truthfulness. Then again, honesty is not always about physical rewards, but as presented in the poem "Honesty" by Praveen Kumar, it can create a sense of happiness and pride within one's self and hoist confidence. This goes to show that choosing to be honest can positively impact your life as well as the people around you.
Choose to be honest and you could receive:
-physical rewards
-trust from others
-sense of accomplishment
-peace and comfort
-pride
-positive reputation
During my tapestry I have also learned a lot about the other side of my theme which is dishonesty. While exploring different short stories, books, songs, and media pieces, I have discovered why dishonesty is not the best policy, and that it can come with many downfalls. Throughout the "Pretty Little Liars" series, dishonesty is present throughout all of the books, which creates physical consequences for each of the girls, distrust, and also a lot of stress. I also looked at a song called "Flawed Design" which showed how choosing to be dishonest at a young age can cause you to continue telling lies your entire life and become uncontrollable. Lying can also eat you alive and make you paranoid, and also cause inner consequences such as guiltiness. For my art I chose two pictures, one that was an original photo and the other that was the same photo but edited. This made me realize how dishonest the media can be, and how this can have a negative impact on our society. Overall, while exploring all of these different examples of dishonesty, I have learned that nothing good ever comes with lying.

The goal of my tapestry was to stress to the reader how important honesty is, and I think that I met my goal by demonstrating the positive effects that come with being honest, and the negative effects that come with being dishonest. Everybody has the ability to tell the truth, but not everybody chooses to. Once you tell a lie, you frequently will need tell even more lies to cover up for the first one. In the end it would have been much easier to tell the truth right from the beginning, no matter how hard it might be. Honesty is the best policy, and it is a trait that most people value.
A question that i had for my reader at the beginning of my tapestry was, "would you prefer a beautiful lie or the ugly truth?". After finishing my tapestry I would hope that the reader would choose the ugly truth, because even though the truth might hurt for a little while, a lie will hurt forever. Also, who knows what rewards you could receive for simply choosing to tell the truth, because honesty truly does pay in the long run.
The second question that i had for the reader was "What would life be like if honesty did not exist?" I believe that if honesty did not exist, our world would be completely different. People would not know the truth about anything, and we would literally be living one huge lie. Even though our world today is full of people who choose to be dishonest, I believe that there are even more people who choose to tell the truth. This makes our world a better place, even though you don't always realize it. Choosing to be honest or dishonest really is an important choice to make in one's life, and I hope that throughout my tapestry I have made the reader think more carefully about their decisions and how it can impact them both now and in the future.
