Honesty
"A friend to honesty and a foe to crime."
-Allan Pinkerton
-Allan Pinkerton
This quote means that honesty is a good thing, and in order for a person to be truly honest, they must also be a 'foe to crime' which means they don't do crime or any other dishonest actions. Also, this quote adresses the importance of having honest friends, and dishonest friends are not really your friends, but rather your foes.
Some texts in which deal with true honesty are; Pretty Little Liars, Dancer, Twilight, The Notebook and Dear John.
"Before us lie two paths–honesty or dishonesty. The ignorant embark on the dishonest path; the wise on the honest. For in helping others, you help yourself; in hurting others, you hurt yourself. Those who remain honest know the truth: character overshadows money, trust rises above fame. And honesty is still the best policy”.
-Wynn Davis
This quote reveals two sides of my theme; honesty and dishonesty. It explains that honesty is the best policy, and also reflects on how when you are honest, it can effect yourself in a positive way, and being dishonest can effect yourself in a negative way. The quote also touches on how trust rises above fame, because without trust or honesty, you could be the most popular person in the world, yet still have no real friends to be their for you.
Some texts which deal with not only honesty, but dishonesty as well are; Pretty Little Liars, Bread, and The Series of Unfortunate Events.
