Quotation Two

"Before us lie two paths–honesty or dishonesty. The ignorant embark on the dishonest path; the wise on the honest. For in helping others, you help yourself; in hurting others, you hurt yourself. Those who remain honest know the truth: character overshadows money, trust rises above fame. And honesty is still the best  policy.
-Wynn Davis

This quote reveals the second side of my theme; dishonesty. It explains that honesty is the best policy, and also reflects on how when you are honest, it can effect yourself  in a positive way, and being dishonest can effect yourself in a negative way. The quote also touches on how trust rises above fame, because without trust or honesty, you could be the most popular person in the world, yet still have no real friends to be their for you. Some texts which deal with not only honesty, but dishonesty as well are; Pretty Little Liars, Bread, and The Series of Unfortunate Events. Throughout each of these texts includes examples of how dishonest actions can backfire and come with consequences. Before being dishonest, you should always think about the consequences in the long run and how bad decisions can effect you in the future.

Born in 1948, Wynn Davis began a distinguished career in broadcasting and journalism, after studying anthropology in University. Davis states that anthropology is basic to understanding between and amongst people. Wynn Davis complied a book of quotes called "The Best of Success", which contains the quote above.

This quote is significant to my theme because it reveals the other side of honesty; dishonesty. Although honesty is the best policy, some people decide to do the opposite. Dishonesty may shine for some time, but in the end there are always consequences. Honesty is courageous where as dishonesty is cowardly. Dishonest people lose the battle in the end, while honest people can win a place in one's heart. Before lying or acting dishonest, one should always make sure to think about the consequences that come with their actions or choices.
